MUSCAT — Inline with
commitment towards the development of their young Omani graduate employees,
Ernst & Young held a three-day professional tax training programme,
especially for its tax line service professionals, including 10 Omanis.
Philip Stanton, Managing Partner and S Sridharan, Tax Partner, Ernst & Young
(E&Y) presented the programme participants with the certificates, spoke on
the occasion and noted the importance of continual training, achievement of
high professional standards and attainment of professional qualifications.
Morris Rozario, Ernst & Young’s Tax Director, stated, “As the leading
professional services firm in the region, Ernst & Young is committed to
training and developing young Omani graduates to become tax advisers and
consultants accredited by the firm. The three-day workshop was very
informative and challenging, but also a lot of fun for all the attendees.
Graduates who attend the programme gained considerable knowledge and are
confident.
This point was echoed by one of the Omani graduate participants, Raya al
Shikeli, who said it was very useful and the best course she has ever taken
part in. The three-day programme is part of a three-year professional
development plan for tax consultants introduced by Ernst & Young’s Muscat
office, with the primary objective of providing Omani graduates with
superior quality professional tax training and work experience necessary to
achieve world-class credentials as professional tax consultants.
In this regard, Ahmed Amour al Esry, Executive Manager at Ernst & Young, who
has been with the company for the past ten years, told the Observer, the
Graduate Development Programme is a key for successful, quality training of
its graduates, because as a professional services firm, it considers
training to be continual and that it needs to be streamlined so as to ensure
that they have well-trained professionals for their future requirement.
He pointed out that the Graduate Development Programme is supplemented by
professional qualifications (such as ACCA — UK and CPA — USA) that are taken
up by its employees. During the entire three-year programme, tax
professionals will undergo comprehensive training, including using live case
studies and attend regional training programmes to gain exposure in
international tax practices. |
