Oman, Yemen discuss vocational co-operation
MUSCAT —
A meeting between the officials at the Ministry of Manpower in the Sultanate and the delegation of the Technical Education and Vocational Training Ministry in Yemen was held at the Vocational Training Centre in A’Seeb yesterday. The visit of the Yemeni delegation comes within the framework of the co-operation between the two brotherly countries in the field of technical education and vocational training.

The Omani side at the meeting was represented by Haji bin Faqeer al Balushi, Director-General of Vocational Training at the Manpower Ministry, and the Yemeni side by Mohammed al Dhari, Director-General of the Public Administration for Training and Rehabilitation at the Technical Education and Vocational Training Ministry in Yemen. During the meeting, the delegation members were briefed on the achievements made by the Sultanate in the field of technical education and vocational training through a visual presentation.

Dr Ahmed bin Mohsen al Ghassani, Dean of the College of Technology in Nizwa, presented an overview about the technical education and vocational training system at the technical colleges and vocational training centres in the Sultanate. The delegation then viewed a documentary on the vocational training centres in the Sultanate, the majors of study and study system, as well as the technical education and vocational training system.

The delegation members were also briefed on the role of fishermen rehabilitation centres in the Sultanate and the aims behind establishing such centres, such as having qualified Omani cadres in fisheries related sectors, improving the efficiency of manpower in fisheries related fields, such as fish farming, quality control, fishing technology and providing short and medium training courses for professional fishing workers.

On its part the delegation presented a visual presentation on the Technical Marine Institute in Eden after which the two sides discussed means of boosting good relations between the Sultanate and Yemen, especially those related to technical education and vocational training. The meeting also discussed exchange of study and training scholarships. — ONA
