UAE president wishes fruitful GCC
summit under HM patronage
ABU DHABI — Shaikh
Khalifa bin Zayed al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE),
has stressed his country’s keenness to support the march of Arab Gulf
Cooperation Countries (GCC). He expressed his best wishes for the
success of the forthcoming GCC summit to be convened in Muscat under the
patronage of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos. He hoped the conference will
come up with decisions and recommendations that will realise aspirations and
bring about more achievements with the context of the common vision and
destiny of all.
Shaikh Khalifa made the statement during a meeting here yesterday with GCC
Secretary- General Abdul-Rahman bin Hamad al Attiyah. Al Attiyah briefed the
UAE president about preparations for the summit and efforts to promote joint
action among member states. Al Attiyah expressed the confidence that Muscat
summit would be an important turning point in the GCC march. The
summit will give more impetus to the region’s political, economic and social
