Wave tops ceramics industry brands
By A Staff Reporter
MUSCAT —
The Wave brand of Oman Ceramics Co SAOG has been recognised as the most well known brand in the Sultanate's ceramics sector following a recent nationwide survey of the country's greatest brands by the Oman Daily Observer. Vish Natrajan, Chief Executive Officer, Oman Ceramics Co SAOG, says, “We are honoured to be ranked as the No 1 brand in the ceramics category. It is a big achievement to win recognition as one of the Sultanate’s best brand names. Our brand ‘Wave’ plays an important part in helping to shape the vibrant and diverse ceramics sector that distinguishes Oman among the region’s leading ceramics manufacturers.

We are indeed very pleased with the results of the Oman Observer brand survey”. The brand survey, which polled 1,000 respondents, showed that in the ceramics sector, Wave won the No1 slot, taking an unassailable lead ahead of its nearest competition with 3,935 points compared to 3,409 for the runner-up. The brand survey results, analysed fully in Oman Observer’s recently published 416-page book: Oman’s 130 Greatest Brands, show that Wave not only outscored all its competitors in the ceramics category but also ranked at No 20 in the overall listing of 130 greatest brands in Oman.

Natrajan said, “We are indeed very happy to be rated No 20 in the overall listing of brands. Quality and customer focus have been the pillars on which we have built our marketing strategy. This rating tells us that we have been on the right track so far. We would now like to build further on that success and provide even better customer service to increase our market share in our current markets”. Oman Ceramics is an ISO: 9000 certified company and “we have now been certified as per the latest version of ISO: 9000/2008 in our last audit. Recently we have been able to achieve KIWA marking for our products which is another feather in our cap.

KIWA is one of the world’s highly reputed independent product certification agency based in the Netherlands. Getting this certification in a short time is no mean achievement, said Natrajan. “Our products have also been recently tested and certified by CERAM, a leading independent testing agency for ceramic products. We also export large quantities of our products to various leading home product distributors in the UK. We have won some prestigious orders in Oman for the Asian Beach Games Village and have also won large value orders in Bahrain for their ministry projects.

These orders have been won under very stiff competition and are a feather in the cap of our sales team. We have also recently launched Shataffs and Angle Valves to complement our product range. These have been well received in the market,” Natrajan added. As for the future plans, Natrajan said, “We would first focus on increasing sales volumes in our current markets and then look for select export markets. India and South Africa are being currently explored and we have had some initial success in these markets. We will now build further on this initial success”.
