Official underlines importance
of enhancing public-private sector ties
MUSCAT — Sayyid Hamad bin
Hilal al Busaidy, Under-Secretary of the Manpower Ministry for Labour
Affairs, has highlighted the importance of enhancing co-operation and
co-ordination between the public and private sectors in the Sultanate in all
labour fields. He pointed out that the Manpower Ministry is keen on
maintaining continuous co-ordination with the Oman Chamber of Commerce and
Industry (OCCI) and the private sector on issues related to labour and
labourers in the Sultanate. He appreciated the good co-operation and the
efforts undertaken by OCCI and the private sector in this regard.
He also expressed the readiness of the Manpower Ministry to provide all
support and facilities to the private sector to enable it to carry out its
roles and responsibilities in terms of national manpower training,
empowerment and regularising the work market. During a meeting he held with
Khalil bin Abdullah al Khonji, OCCI Chairman, OCCI board members, business
people and private sector representatives, Al Busaidy said that such
meetings allow both the private and public sectors to face the challenges in
implementation of government policies and programmes in terms of
rehabilitation and employment of national manpower and increasing the
ability of the private sector companies to expand in absorbing the national
manpower.
Al Khonji highlighted the importance of partnership between the private and
public sectors to achieve the goals of Oman’s comprehensive development. He
hailed the existing and continuous co-operation between the Manpower
Ministry and OCCI to discuss issues related to labour and labourers in
private sector companies. He stressed the private sector's commitment to
training and employment of national manpower. He reiterated the support of
OCCI and private sector to government programmes and plans. — ONA |
