GCC agricultural panel to
discuss regulations today MUSCAT — The GCC Agricultural Co-operation Committee will today hold its 20th meeting during which it will discuss two executive regulations, one pertaining to the pesticides and fertilisers law and the other dealing with soil fortification, genetically engineered agricultural products and unification of agricultural quarantine fees. The meeting will also discuss the recommendations of the food security seminar and Egypt’s offer to cooperate in the field of veterinarian and agricultural quarantine. In the field of livestock, the meeting will discuss the executive regulations of veterinary medicine law, veterinarian pharmaceutical law and the animal rights law. It will also review a draft of a GCC memorandum of understanding on livestock import procedures and the setting up of a unified system for pest control in GCC states. In the fisheries field, the officials will review the Sultanate’s proposal for the establishment of a fisheries research development fund, a project on comprehensive survey of seabed fish and the red tide phenomenon. — ONA |
