Al Rowas visits Salalah dam, water projects
SALALAH — Shaikh Abdullah bin Salim al Rowas, Minister of Regional Municipalities and Water Resources, yesterday visited the Salalah Protection Dam and other water projects being implemented by the ministry in the Dhofar Governorate.  He was briefed by the officials on the construction progress of the 77.2 million cubic metre dam at Wadi Jarziz in Salalah plain. The project, which is about 41 complete, aims to provide maximum protection for Salalah against hazardous floods and augment water resources. The minister also met with the water resources management officials in the governorate. — ONA

Dr Khamis messages for Yemeni ministers
SANAA — Omar Abdullah al Karshami, Minister of Public Works and Roads, and Khalid Ibrahim al Wazeir, Minister of Transport and Communications, of Yemen received messages from Dr Khamis bin Mubarak al Alawi, Minister of Transport and Communications, dealing with bilateral relations and co-operation between the two countries. The messages were handed over by Abdullah bin Hamad al Badi, Sultanate’s Ambassador to Yemen when he was received by the two ministers here yesterday. Light rains in Wilayats
MUSCAT — A number of Wilayats and regions of the Sultanate yesterday recorded light rainfall. In the Dakhiliyah Region it rained in villages of Seeq Wadi Bani Habib, Al Ain, Al Shuraijah and Al Sheef, while in the Wilayat of Rustaq in Al Batinah Region Jibal Al Maqham, Al Dhahir and Al Kuff received light rain.
