Badr al Samaa introduces
Headache Solution Centre

Dr Pfaffenrath MUSCAT
— Badr al Samaa is
introducing the services of Dr Pfaffenrath, senior consultant from Germany
who specialises in the treatment of chronic headaches, dangerous headaches
and other headache related problems. His services will be available at their
Ruwi branch until Thursday, February 25, between 9 am to 1 pm and 5 pm to 9
pm. An authority in the field, Dr Pfaffenrath brings with him more than 30
years of experience in running headache solution centres in Germany and has
trained a number of doctors in this field.
The Board of Directors of Badr al Samaa Group of Hospitals, comprising Abdul
Latheef, V T Vinod and P A Mohammed, stated: “With his expertise Badr al
Samaa will develop an exclusive medical team to manage chronic and dangerous
headaches in the private healthcare sector in the region.” Headaches are
among the most common neurological diseases. Ten per cent of the population
suffers from migraine, three per cent from daily tension-type headaches, and
approximately 1 per cent takes pain killers on a daily basis which leads to
pain killer-related headaches. Around 5-7 per cent are affected by headaches
that come from the cervical spine.
All these headaches amount to 90 per cent of headache patients who approach
their general practitioner. One or a combination of these diseases leads to
lifelong suffering for many patients, but this is not necessary, according
to Badr al Samaa. Between 60-80 per cent of migraine patients can be helped
with a consistent modern pharmacotherapy and, if necessary, additional
procedures. This includes the migraine attack treatment with triptans. Under
this treatment, the patient can usually be pain free or able to attend his
business within two hours. |
