Parliamentary media workshop begins today
MUSCAT —
A three-day workshop on ‘parliamentary media’ will begin at the Majlis Addawla today. Khalid bin Salim al Saidi, Secretary-General of the Majlis Addawla, said that the workshop will be attended by government and private sector officials, employees, editors-in-chief of local news papers, heads of radio and TV services and other media and press personnel who, along with members of the Majlis Addawla, will elaborate on the role of media in parliamentary work. — ONA


Oman Air workshop highlights Munich’s tourist appeal
MUSCAT — National carrier Oman Air hosted on Wednesday a workshop spotlighting one of Europe’s best-known holiday destinations — Munich, capital of Germany’s State of Bavarian. The event, attended by representatives of Oman’s travel and hospitality industry, was organised in collaboration with Munich Airport and the City of Munich’s Tourism Office.

Decline in road accidents, deaths, injuries
MUSCAT —The Royal Oman Police (ROP) statistical bulletin of January 2010 shows a general decline in road accidents and related deaths and injuries. The figures of January 2010 statistics show that, compared to January 2009, the number of road accidents declined by 47, while related deaths and injuries dropped by 45 and 74, respectively.

ROP’s weekly report
The weekly bulletin of the ROP Civil Defence department shows that 44 fire accidents happened between January 30 and February 2 in different parts of the Sultanate. Statistically, the number is big and it points to a continuous risk of fire accidents beyond the summer peak months. In the same period, the ROP Civil Defence rescued 94 victims of road accidents.
