ROP’s weekly report
Fires
The weekly bulletin of the
ROP Civil Defence department shows that 44 fire accidents happened between
January 30 and February 2 in different parts of the Sultanate.
Statistically, the number is big and it points to a continuous risk of fire
accidents beyond the summer peak months. In the same period, the ROP Civil
Defence rescued 94 victims of road accidents. These included 10 cases of
seriously injured people, 56 who sustained moderate and 28 minor injuries.
Drug abuse
The ROP recently apprehended a drug trafficking gang at a farm in the
Wilayat of Barka. The gang, whose members carried nationalities of Asian
countries, was liaising with a man in Barka who was planning to store the
heroin in the farm. The group was caught red-handed and transferred to the
Public Prosecution Department in preparation for trial. |
