TOKYO — Ahmed bin Abdulnabi
Macki, Minister of National Economy and Deputy Chairman of the Financial
Affairs and Energy Resources Council, met here yesterday with Watanbe, the
Chairman of Japan International Bank for Co-operation (JIBC). Discussion
during the meeting covered means of enhancing bilateral co-operation. Macki
hailed the role of the Japanese bank in financial development projects in
the Sultanate, including the Qurayat-Sur road, Sohar Industrial Port, Al
Duqm Port and projects undertaken by Oman Shipping Company.
The bank’s co-operation with the Sultanate is a clear evidence about
international confidence in the Sultanate and the special place accorded to
Oman’s government by global financial institutions. The Chairman of JIBC
commended the policy adopted by the Sultanate in implementing developmental
programmes. In this respect, he said, “We, at JIBC have had a conviction
that the development policy of the Omani economy is progressing with
transparency.”
He stressed that JIBC will study any proposal by the Omani government for
the implementation of development projects. The meeting was attended by
Khalid bin Hashil al Maslahi, the Sultanate’s Ambassador to Japan, and the
delegation accompanying Macki during his current visit to Japan. — ONA |
